About the Lake Street Labyrinth

The idea for Lake Street Labyrinth began in 2020 as we watched more people walking through our neighborhood due to pandemic restrictions. Once Lake Street became a Slow Street, we wanted to offer a simple way for people to slow their walk and be more fully present to the world around them.

The labyrinth has two entrances off of the sidewalk that lead walkers along a winding path through both garden and pavement. All of the succulents were graciously donated by our neighbors and community members. Sprinkled through the path, you’ll also find stones painted with affirmations & inspiration that you can carry into your day.

Make any walk a slow walk.

You don’t need a labyrinth to turn your walks into a spiritual practice. Here are four easy steps to help you slow down your walk.

1 | BEGIN

Start by noticing what you carry today: joy, pain, peace, or stress.

2 | WALK

Slowly walk forward. With each step and breath, release whatever keeps you from being present to the here & now.

3 | OBSERVE

As you walk, bring your attention to what you see, what you hear, and the sensation of moving.

4 | GRATITUDE

As you end, take a moment to name something you are grateful for. Then, continue on life's journey.
